Josh Smith grew up in Mechanicsville, VA just outside of Richmond, VA. He attended Cincinnati Christian University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Bible and General Ministry. In 2002, Josh moved back to Richmond and fulfilled his life’s calling of planting a campus ministries by starting at VCU. He is loved by his wife, Jamie and two kids, Kaleb and Kathryn. Josh enjoys driving around in his beat-up Honda Fit and enjoys watching and coaching baseball.


Justin May

Campus Minister at James Madison University

Justin is a graduate of Johnson University. While he is originally from Bland County, VA, if you ask him he’ll say he’s from Harrisonburg. He met his wife, Cindy, while both of them were working at Christian service camp and the two have been doing ministry together ever since. Justin has a strange obsession with furniture and loves his dogs, who are named after first ladies of the United States.


Eron Cavanaugh

Campus Minister at Virginia Commonwealth University

Eron Cavanaugh grew up in Plainfield, Indiana where he attended Plainfield Christian Church. He graduated from Milligan College with a degree in Psychology and a Bible minor. He received his Masters of Social Work from IUPUI in 2014, shortly before he married his wife, Kristina. He is currently on track to receive his License of Clinical Social Work by the end of this year. He enjoys video games, counseling, and eating the many amazing treat that his wife Kristina cooks.


Kristina Cavanaugh

Campus Minister at Virginia Commonwealth University

Kristina Cavanaugh is a Richmond native who met her husband, Eron, during their time at Milligan College. She graduated in 2012 with a degree in Applied Finance and Accounting, Psychology, and a minor in Economics. Then she graduated from VCU with a second undergrad degree in Accounting, during which she began interning at Christian Student Fellowship before joining the full-time staff as a campus minister in 2014. Kristina enjoys reading, cross-stitching, and cooking yummy foods (to Eron’s enjoyment).




Campus Minister at Old Dominion University

Tyler Jackson is from Northern Virginia. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2011 where studied Biology and Chemistry. While on campus, he joined VCU’s Christian Student Fellowship, where his faith was reignited and he gained a passion for ministry. Upon graduation, he accepted a position on staff at Christian Student Fellowship at Old Dominion University. He enjoys hanging out with his super adorable puppy and listening to audiobooks as he takes her for a walk.


Crystal McCarthy

Crystal McCarthy grew up in Northeastern North Carolina. She is a graduate of Mid Atlantic University where she studied theology and counseling. She has a passion for learning people's stories and using her own to reach people for Christ! She is married to and ministers with the love of her life Chris McCarthy. Together they have three amazing...and amazingly different from each other...daughters; Jillian, Chloe and Molly.




Campus Minister at Christopher Newport University

Scooter was born and raised in Newport News, VA. He and his wife, Dori, met at church camp and have been married for 26 years and have 4 kids. He graduated from Mid-Atlantic Christian University with a Bachelor’s degree in Bible and Music Ministry and Liberty University with a Master’s degree in Human Services/Counseling: Marriage and Family Therapy. He enjoys singing, reading, hanging out with his family, visiting his Mountain Mission School family, good Chinese food, New Orleans Saints winning, and being a follower of Jesus.




Campus Minister at James Madison University

Zach is originally from St Petersburg Florida but has lived throughout virginia for the past 12 years. He graduated from Liberty University in 2017 with a degree in Relgious Studies: Theology and Apologetics. When he's not working you can catch him on the disc golf course somewhere, mountain biking, or watching every Tampa Bay Lightning game.


Meghan Saunders

Campus Minister at Christopher Newport University

Meghan grew up right outside of Richmond, VA in Mechanicsville. She studied Business at Regent University. Meghan is excited to be doing college ministry at Christopher Newport University alongside Scooter. During her free time, she loves to be outdoors (specifically taking a long walk on the beach somewhere) and playing her ukulele.




Campus Ministry Intern at James Madison University

Taylor grew up in Charlotte, NC but has called Blacksburg Virginia her home for almost 4 years. Taylor is a recent graduate from Virginia Tech where she received her bachelor's in Leadership and Community Education. Taylor has a strong passion for women's ministry and spent the majority of her senior year focusing on this aspect, making her area of focus for her degree on the servant leadership laid out by women in the bible. When she's not working you can find her reading a good book, spending time with her best friend, her dog Piper, and loving on some amazing horses.

Josh is from Woodbridge in Northern Virginia. He graduated from Virginia Tech studying Political Science. He was a part of a campus ministry there that we partner with. Prior to campus ministry, he felt completely in the dark and without a relationship with Jesus. In those three years he rekindled his faith and fell in love with following Jesus. He loves to learn how to walk in the footsteps that Jesus took throughout his ministry and to be an example for others to follow, which he is fulfilling by being the campus ministry Intern at CSF-ODU. When he's not working, Josh loves reading books, playing video games, and hanging out with friends.


Morgan Hennessy

Morgan is a Virginia Beach, VA native but has spent the last 4 years in Harrisonburg completing a degree in social work at JMU. She loves drinking good coffee with great friends, being out in nature, and can usually be found listening to music or watching New Girl. Morgan became involved with CSF her freshmen year at JMU and is super excited to give back to such a wonderful organization by interning at VCU this year.
