“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few”
The College years are some of the most exciting, impactful, and confusing years of any persons life. With constant pressures socially, mentally, and physically, often times students are unaware that there is also a pressure on them spiritually. Is there a God? Can I know him? What is my purpose? Who am I supposed to be?
With identity in question and with the doubts ever growing, College Ministries of Virginia hopes that we can be the bearer of the seeds of love and peace that college students so desperately long for. We carry the name of the hope of the world, and that is Jesus Christ. We believe that he alone is the giver of identity, hope, and wellness.
College campuses is the largest ministry field in our own backyard, and where many see loftiness, we see the potential of structure; and where others see disillusioned young people, we see an opportunity for stability; and where some may see lost causes, we see the grandest of harvests. We see hundreds upon thousands of college students who are deeply loved and cared for by their Creator. We see the sacrifice of Jesus coming full circle in their lives. We see people, who once filled with the Spirit, will become leaders who carry the Gospel and become harvesters in their own communities.
"36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.'" (Matthew 9:35-38 ESV)
